The most successful ecommerce websites and email marketing campaigns excel at displaying the most relevant content to customers as quickly and easily as possible. Our rating and recommendation technology helps identify the content most closely matches what your users are looking for and can even suggest items that the user may not have even known about.
As an example, let’s imagine we operate an online grocery store with only a traditional search feature. A customer comes to our store and types “peanut butter” into our product search. This traditional search engine lists a number of products matching the term peanut butter and, farther down, products matching either peanut or butter. This served its purpose as our customer is able to click on a peanut butter brand and place it in her shopping cart.
That is where traditional search ends, but our recommendation technology could take this a step farther. Based on other items purchased by customers who had viewed peanut butter in the past, our software could recommend jelly to go with the peanut butter as well as an assortment of sandwich bread. Furthermore, we may notice that this customer purchases certified organic peanut butter and jelly. With integration to an email marketing application such as Constant Contact, our software can automatically place this customer into an existing email list specifically for customers interested in organic products and send a customized newsletter to this list containing per-user recommendations of additional certified organic products. This is indeed powerful technology.
Our Hooks for Facebook application showcases our rating, recommendation, and Constant Contact newsletter integration in action. Hooks throws in an additional twist by utilizing a user’s social network to help generate recommendations.
There are many ways to allow users to create the ratings necessary to drive recommendations. We have a star rating widget as showcased in Hooks for Facebook. This allows users to rate items on a scale of one to five. However, a simple up/down vote or like button can also be used to create rating data if a scale is undesirable. Indeed, we have tracking technology that can be used to generate recommendations based on implied interest with no action by the user at all. The tracking code placed in your website HTML can be used by our software to infer interest based solely on the web pages visited.
